AzureMate Desktop System - Explorer Blobs Form Page Explained

Hello and welcome to AzureMate, Windows Azure Cloud Data Storage Explorer System, Blobs Form Page. The Blob Storage System in Azure is a system similar to Windows File System. Any kind of files can be uploaded, including any of their sub folder prefix structures.
View Blobs Form Screen Shot...

This AzureMate Blobs Storage Manager form provides you with the ability to manipulate the currently used Azure Storage Account's Blob Containers and their blob file data. The operations on the blob containers include:

  • Creating new Blob containers.
  • Uploading new files to containers from your computer system.
  • Downloading files from containers to your computer system.
  • Deleting existing containers with all of their data.
  • Deleting all or individual files from containers.

Important Note
AzureMate implements paging on both, displayed Blob Containers and displayed Blob Files. You can set how many containers and blobs to display at a time in the Form's Settings manager. The default is 25 blob containers and 100 blobs and folders when you first start AzureMate. Also, note that, if paging of blobs is set low, when paging the blobs, the folders may mix with the files as they come, not folders first and files after.

Tips
When you are exploring your blobs here, always be aware of the Page Buttons on top. If they are disabled, there are no more pages, if they are enabled, there is more data available.

In some cases Buttons rely on something to be written into an updatable grid's field or into a text box to get enabled and as you type they remain disabled until you hit the Enter or Tab key on your keyboard.

Any time you are not sure of something while running AzureMate, press the F1 function key (usually situated on top of your keyboard) for extensive context help.

The grids may contain one or more fields that are too short to display fully and show the continuation mark '...'. You can point into these fields with your mouse and the editor will display the words fully as a tip. You can also widen the columns to show more content.

Blobs Explorer Form

When you look at the top right corner of the page you will see the currently selected storage account's total number of Blob, Table and Queue containers.

Following table contains all the available elements for review.

Element Description
TreeView
on left
This Tree-View contains either all or paged Blob Containers and their folders. It is separated from the List-View of Blob Files and folders on the right by an invisible vertical line which serves for making either of the views wider or shorter by moving your mouse horizontally between them until the line appears. Grab the line with your mouse and move it to the left or right as desired.

There is no context menu (right clicking your mouse) associated with this Tree-View. Left click any tree branch to reveal blobs and folders on the right List-View.
List-View
on right

This List-View contains either all or paged Blob Files and their folders, depending on what you click and select in the Tree-View on left.

Important Note
If you set your pagination for Blobs and Folders short, the displayed sub folders and blobs may mix rather than displaying folders first and blobs underneath.

There is a context menu (right clicking your mouse) associated with this List-View. It contains two menu choices:
Download
Delete

When you select (highlight) one or more items in this List-View, right click the highlighted portion to select either to Download highlighted files to a selected download folder or Delete them from the currently selected Container.

You can double click only on folders, which will open them, not on files, that does nothing.
